Customers draw guns on alleged thieves
Authorities say two men were surrounded by customers with guns while attempting to steal tools from a Washington store.
The Daily Herald reports the men, ages 22 and 23, allegedly took four nail guns, each worth more than $400, from the Coastal Farm & Ranch store last Saturday in Marysville.
The men walked out of the store and got into a Honda Civic, only to be surrounded by about six customers with guns raised.
Court documents say the driver pulled forward, causing one man confronting him to land on the hood.
Documents say another customer shot at the driver's side front tire, while a third fired twice at the rear tire.
Marysville police found the theft suspects' car unoccupied about three blocks away, with two flat tires and the tools inside. Both men were apprehended after a search.

Cow chased on highway
A cow bound for a slaughterhouse who led authorities on an hour-long chase along Interstate 80 in New Jersey before being captured is recuperating at an animal sanctuary.
The director of the Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in northwestern New Jersey tells the New Jersey Herald that the cow suffered cuts and scrapes from falling from the second floor of the trailer last Thursday near Paterson.
Mike Stura tells the newspaper that the cow has received shots and been examined by a veterinarian. She will remain at the sanctuary if she is able to recover fully.
The cow has been named Brianna in honour of the police officer named Brian who alerted the sanctuary to the animal's escape.

Homeless men break into house, cook dinner
Two homeless men have been charged with burglary after a California man said he came home to find them cooking dinner.
Robby Spillman tells KNBC-TV that he returned from Christmas shopping last Friday to find the men in his Santa Monica apartment.
Spillman says the men, who stank and wore filthy, ripped clothing, told him they hadn't expected him home so soon and asked if they could "hang out" for a while.
Spillman says he played along, asked if they had enough food, then pretended to take his French bulldog for a walk and called 911.
Nineteen-year-old Markis White and 29-year-old Elijah Smart were arrested. It's unclear whether they have a lawyer.
Meanwhile, Spillman and his pregnant girlfriend plan to find a new home.
