Reggae spin for Smokey Robinson classic

Popular reggae singer Singing Melody recently recorded a cover of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' R&B classic, ' Tracks of my Tears'. and he is all set to release it on Valentine's Day.

The song, which appeared on the group's 1965 Motown Records album, Going To A Go-Go, was a massive hit, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts that same year.

"This song was released two years before I was born, and it was still popular even when I was growing up in the early 70s. Back in those days, American R&B music was very popular in Jamaica. I am not afraid to admit that I was influenced by some of those old R&B songs that I grew up listening to, and this is one of my favourites," Singing Melody said.

The veteran entertainer who's known for hits such as Want You Back, Say What, Let It Flow, and When a Woman's Fed Up, is confident that his version of Track of my Tears will be a success.

"This is a wonderful production. I have to give kudos to legendary Sly Dunbar and Rory Baker for working their magic on this track. Sometimes it's hard to predict if a song is going to be a hit, but I have a strong feeling that this song will resonate with reggae fans worldwide," he said.

This new version of Tracks of My Tears was produced by legendary Jamaican drummer Sly Dunbar and veteran studio engineer Rory Baker. It was released on January 9 and is available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music.

Singing Melody also revealed that he plans to shoot a video for the song.

"My team and I are getting ready to shoot a very nice video for this single. We are currently scouting locations and working out the logistics. I want to shoot it and have it ready to be released on Valentine's Day."

Meanwhile, Singing Melody is still promoting his Sound Clash Culture Volume 1 album, which was released last year. He is booked to perform in Tampa, Florida, on February 7 and in Antigua on February 14.
